Nutritional Value: Paneer(Cottage Cheese) is a high protein food; it is often substituted for meat in many vegetarian entrees of Indian cuisine.
100 gms of paneer made from cow milk provides 18.3 gms of protein, 20.8 gms of fat, 2.6 gms of minerals, 1.2 gms of carbohydrates, 265 kcal of energy, 208 mgs of calcium, 138 mg of phosphorous. It contains reasonably good amounts of fat and cholesterol.
Nutrition : Palak/Spinach
Ingredients
200 gms Paneer (cubed)
2 bunches of fresh Spinach
1 finely chopped onion
1 tsp Ginger - Garlic paste
1 big tomato (pureed)
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
2 tsp oil
2 tbsp fresh cream
salt to taste
Method
Wash & boil spinach leaves in water for 5-8 mins. Puree the boiled spinach & set aside.
In a pan, heat 2tsp oil. Add chopped onions & saute. When the onions turns pinkish in color, add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder & garam masala powder & saute for 5 mins.
Add pureed tomato & cook till oil leaves the sides of the pan.
Add pureed palak & 1/4 cup of water. Add the cubed paneer & salt to taste & cook on simmer for 5-10 mins.
Turn off heat & add fresh cream.
Serve hot with chappathi/paratha.
