Semiya ( Vermicelli ) Upma


1 cup Vermicelli (roasted)
1 chopped onion

2-3 green chillies (slit from the middle)

1/2 cup carrots(chopped) & peas

1/2 tsp mustard

a few curry leaves

a bunch of cilantro finely chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 cups water

1 tsp oil

salt to taste


Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds & wait till it splutters. Add green chillies, chopped onions & curry leaves & saute for a few mins. Add the vegetables & saute. Add turmeric powder, cover & cook on simmer for a few mins.

Add 2 cups of water & bring to a boil. Add vermicelli & salt to cook till completely dry.

Garnish with finely chopped cilantro.
Serve hot with pickles.
